We started this during Covid when Sarah’s work got shut down. We set up a camper on our land and Sarah bought some chickens and ducks. Tony was still able to build a house because it was outside.

Then we found some goats for milk. Tony went and got some pigs out of Idaho thinking we would raise them to eat. Then it seemed like a good idea to buy a pregnant Dexter cow. And then 3 pregnant ewes out of La Jara. Well here we are now. Tony is working the farm full time while Sarah pays the bills doing acupuncture in town.It’s freakin’ insane and hard and has cost us a lot of time and money. But it’s also one of the most amazing things ever to learn how to be a farmer and raise animals well. Neither of us were raised raising animals but every day we learn a bunch of cool stuff and get a little better, smarter, more efficient.

We would definitely not recommend ever doing anything like this unless you are ready to use all your money and your whole mind, heart, and body to make it work.
